1. Program Objectives

Associate of Arts in English is designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in teaching English and foundation of general and theoretical knowledge necessary for employment and further university studies. The program improves the students’ macro-skills in English language: reading; writing; and listening and speaking, and communication skills, critical thinking skills, and problems solving skills.

2. Career Opportunities

Students completing this program will:

  • be qualified to teach English from Starter to Upper-Intermediate Level;
  • be able to translate and interpret English; and
  • be able to work in the fields of tourism, hospitality and business, particularly where English proficiency is required.

3. Expected Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

3.1 Knowledge

  • acquire general knowledge about Cambodia and the world;
  • acquire in-depth knowledge of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills at Upper-Intermediate level including important theories, concepts and principles;

3.2 Cognitive Skills

  • apply various teaching methodologies to teach English from Starter to Upper-Intermediate level with confidence;
  • develop and implement appropriate teaching methodologies
  • analyze and reflect on their practice and experiences;
  • apply information communication technology for professional work, academic study, and in teaching;

3.3 Interpersonal Skills and Responsibility

  • demonstrate confidence, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills;
  • engage in a process of continual improvement and pursue a further degree;

3.4 Communication Information Technology and Numerical Skills

  • effectively use basic information and computer technology and numerical knowledge in interpreting information and proposing solutions to problems and issues; and
  • communicate in English effectively through writing and speaking.

4. Admission Requirements

To enroll in this program, applicants must:

  • hold a High School Certificate or a failed High School Certificate or a qualification deemed equivalent by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport;
  • hold a Vocational Certificate 3 (Level4); or
  • hold a certificate of the Foundation Year (credit transfer); and
  • pass the university entrance examination.

5. Credit Accumulation

Students are required to undertake two academic years of full-time study or four semesters in higher education. There are two semesters in an academic year and each lasts fifteen weeks excluding examination period. To be awarded the Associate of Arts in English, students must acquire 63 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.00.
